Still haven’t figured out my scanner problems yet. So that means that all I have to show is today’s self-portrait. The last two days’ SPs I did were in pencil, and you will have to wait until my scanner is up and running and I dump a bunch of sketches here. This one hurt my neck to hold this position, and the fact that my head is tilted back means that I couldn’t get it to look like me, but I like it. Also, it was darn hard to paint my mouth open without me looking like a complete idiot (now I only look partially dumb). The trick is not making the teeth too white. Click for a bigger pic as always.

Here is a pretty bad self portrait I did today. It doesn’t really look all that much like me, but it’s actually in colour for once…let me tell you–skin tones are damn hard. I didn’t do a very good job; think of it as a rocky start to awesomeness.
I’m going to be going out of town this summer to train on the Canadian Junior National Water Polo Team. It’ll be twice a day and for six weeks. From what I hear I’ll have almost no time or energy for my art, so until I leave I am going to be going all out. I’m going to try and do a number of self-portraits, still lifes, pencils, whatever. I actually have a few pages of pencils to show, but I have to get my scanner up and running and reinstall it and stuff, so they will have to wait until tomorrow.

Finished up this matte painting for school. For those of you who don’t know, a matte painting is basically a really sophisticated collage of photos with a bit of digital painting which create a new scene. They are used for movies and stuff. The building is created from a combination of my highschool and Chateau Laurier. Click for a big version.

Just finished up this guy and I am fairly pleased with how it turned out. Anyhow, recently I have been feeling like I am stagnating, and I found this old artwork of mine that is in a similar pose. When I put them side-by-side, I feel a bit better. Both were done without any reference. As always, click them to open a bigger version.
